Recognizing the potential security implications of unattended luggage in a public area, Mastul quickly reported the discovery to his boss and sought assistance from both the MIAA Police and the PNP Aviation Security Group.

Following an in-depth inspection, it was discovered that the luggage included not only personal possessions but also precious jewelry. Following stringent regulations, MIAA officials took ownership of the missing items and handed them to the agency's missing and Found Section. The entire process was carefully carried out in the presence of witnesses to ensure transparency and accountability.

Following an investigation, the owner, Miguel Carpio, was identified, and his contact information was found within the bag. Carpio was ecstatic when he learned that his stuff had been located and promptly returned to the airport to claim them.

This was the first time Mastul had come across a bag carrying such valuable stuff. Despite the temptation, he highlighted the necessity of honesty, saying, "You have to surrender it because it's not yours. That item must be returned to the rightful owner."

Mastul has worked as a security guard at NAIA since 2016, and his dedication to his position and keeping ethical standards has garnered him acclaim from both his colleagues and higher-ups. MIAA authorities praised Mastul for his honesty and promptness in reporting the event, citing his actions as an outstanding example of the airport's efforts to encourage integrity and professionalism among its personnel.

MIAA Officer in Charge Bryan Co praised Mastul's honesty, saying, "Mr. Mastul's display of honesty not only sets a good example for his colleagues but also proves that our efforts to promote integrity and professionalism among airport workers are gaining ground from all levels of service."

This heartwarming incident demonstrates the airport's dedication to providing a safe and secure environment for all passengers and visitors, thanks to the alertness and ethical behavior of devoted employees like Mahmud Mastul.
