In response to the potential threat of Super Typhoon Egay, President Marcos assured the public that adequate measures are being taken to mitigate its damage. "We continue to take appropriate actions to mitigate the impact of Super Typhoon Egay," the President wrote on Twitter recently.
The safety of about 38,991 impacted families across multiple regions, including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Soccsksargen, is being prioritized as part of the government's comprehensive response plan.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who is on a state visit to Malaysia, stated that more than P173 million in standby cash, as well as food and non-food items, have been prepared for typhoon victims.
Search, rescue, and retrieval troops have been deployed to assist communities in the impacted areas in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine Coast Guard.
In an update on recovery operations, the President stated that power had been restored to 93.53 percent of the afflicted towns, indicating progress in restoring key services to affected areas.
Despite being downgraded from super typhoon to typhoon on Tuesday evening, Egay remains a powerful storm with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph in the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph. As Egay continued to "wobble" around the coastal waters near Fuga Island in Aparri, Pagasa warned that strong winds would remain in various parts of Luzon. The Visayas will also see gusty conditions as a result of Egay and the southwest monsoon.
Egay is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday, according to Pagasa.
As the nation deals with the aftermath of Super Typhoon Egay, the government's commitment to saving lives and assisting affected areas remains strong. The situation is being continuously monitored, and relief efforts to rebuild and heal in the aftermath of this natural calamity are ongoing.
